In an effort to simplify the execution and utilization of public documents, China officially became a member of the Apostille Convention on November 7, 2023. With this participation, Chinese trademark applicants can have their documents apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the sole authority entrusted with this task. These apostilles are recognized by 125 member states of the Hague Convention, including crucial Arab and African nations such as Oman, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. This initiative not only streamlines the process but also eradicates the lengthy and costly embassy legalization procedures required for member states.
