Instagram has instructed the owner of the British anti-litter app, Littergram, to change its name, citing it as “not acceptable.” Littergram allows users to report litter by sharing photos. Owner Danny Lucas appealed to Mark Zuckerberg, expressing concern over the potential demise of his project. Instagram’s legal team gave Lucas three to six months to transition away from the name. Facebook expressed admiration for the app’s goals but requested the name change, citing similarities to their platforms. They hope to resolve the issue outside of court.
