Yemen IP Update – MoFA Attestation Now Required for Powers of Attorney

The Aden Trademarks Office has aligned with Sana’a in mandating Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) attestation for all Powers of Attorney (POAs) used in trademark filings and post-registration actions.

Key Requirements:

  • A single MoFA-attested POA is now valid for both Aden and Sana’a
  • The rule applies only to POAs — other IP-related documents such as assignments or recordals are not affected
  • The MoFA attestation must be completed within one year of embassy legalization

This change reflects a move toward administrative harmonization between Yemen’s two main IP offices and underscores the importance of timely and compliant documentation.
