- Formalized Post-Registration Recordal Services: Rights holders can now formally record assignments, mergers, license agreements, and corporate name/address updates directly in the central registry, maintaining clean chains of title.
- Launch of Patents and Industrial Designs: Expanding formal protection beyond trademarks for the first time in decades, Somalia is launching statutory systems for Patents and Industrial Designs. Official fee schedules are set, with a forthcoming Procedural Decree establishing the exact examination and prosecution workflows.
- Preservation of Existing 2019 Rights: Crucially, incoming statutory legislation includes explicit transitional provisions. All trademarks registered under the Ministry’s administrative system from 2019 onwards will remain fully recognized and valid under the new statutory framework.
