In 2018, PIAGGIO & C. S.p.A. sued DETECH Technology for infringing its motorbike design (Design Patent No. 20652).

PIAGGIO had previously obtained a favorable assessment from the Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute (VIPRI).

The court ordered DETECH to cease the infringement and pay VND 200 million (~US$ 8,700) for legal fees, along with additional costs for the VIPRI assessment. PIAGGIO withdrew its claim for VND 500 million (~US$ 21,700) in damages, with reasons unclear.
